A senator representing Lagos-east in the National Assembly has reportedly made a shocking demand from a United Kingdom university over the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.Senator Gbenga Ashafa who spoke after the investiture of Tinubu as patron of the university’s Centre for African Entrepreneurship and Leadership on Monday, November 20, pleaded with the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom to dedicate an academic course to the study of the political style of Tinubu in the revered institution, The Punch reports.
The senator explained that if the university can do it, it will go a long way in instilling the values of opposition politics in its students.
“I suggest that the centre should consider the option of studying his (Tinubu’s) methodologies of leadership with the ultimate goal of developing a curriculum on it. This, I believe, would prove immensely beneficial to future generations that would pass through the four walls of this institution,” Ashafa said.
The lawmaker who extoled the former Lagos governor on the award, reiterated that it was well deserved. He said the APC national leader had long shown himself to be a leader.
According to him, it was imperative for the school to forge alliances with African personalities in order to widen its academic prospect.
“I commend the university for carefully identifying and selecting the person of Asiwaju Tinubu, our leader, as the patron of the CAEL.
“Having had the awesome privilege of going through the curriculum of the centre and its mission, I make bold to say that the choice of Tinubu is perfect, being a colossus that has excelled in nurturing global leadership and entrepreneurship.
“For Africa to achieve its full potential, it must seek to forge ‘Africa-centric’ alliances with institutions like yours.
“Therefore, I urge the leadership and members of faculty of the centre to take full advantage of the depth and wealth of experience, which Asiwaju brings on board as the patron of the centre,” Ashafa said.
No doubt that the political empire that Tinubu has built for himself over the years can not be over emphasised. He is widely believed to be the propelling force behind the ousting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power after 16-year uninterrupted rule. He was able to accomplish the feat because of his popularity and the political power he wields in the south west region.
Recently a man was arrested by the police after allegedly impersonating the former Lagos governor to defraud unsuspecting people.
