A 3-year-old girl in Hampton, Arkansas has died after being found unresponsive inside of a washing machine.Police say the mother of the girl and another child were present at the home when the little girl was found.
According to Hampton Police Chief Cole Knoedl, authorities have not determined if the girl drowned, or what exactly happened to her. When officers responded to the incident, the child had reportedly already been taken out of the washing machine.
Chief Knoedl said, “I’ve run across some pretty bad stuff…this is one of the worst that I’ve ever had to deal with.”
Police reportedly tried to perform CPR on the child, but an hour later the 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead at an El Dorado hospital.
The name of the girl or her parents has not been released, and the family has not spoken to the press.
While the investigation continues, the little girl’s body is currently at the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. No arrests have been made, but Chief Knoedl said that police are gathering information and might make an arrest before a decision from the prosecutor is received.
