A woman walking her dog spotted the bodies in the park in Montecino Heights, according toSgt. Marlon Marrache of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers found the bodies of the two females, whose age they have not provided so far.
The area in which homicide detectives began their investigation is often frequented by dog-walkers, joggers and hikers.
In aerial video from Sky5, detectives were seen working just a stone’s throw away from a trail. The bodies were fully dressed and about 20 away from each other.
A part of Victorine Street near the park was blocked off. Investigators spoke to several people who reside at an apartment complex there.
According to residents interviewed by KTLA, this is not the first incident in the park happening to women. They said a man had threatened women there before.
Sergeant Marache pointed out that the investigation was in preliminary stages.
He said, “We’re exhausting every avenue to investigate this matter. Cases like this … take a very, very long time to resolve and to investigate.”
Homicide investigators from LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division are in charge of the case.
